How to Know You Are Going to Heaven

First: You need to be saved. No one is perfect, no one has lived up to God's perfect standard.

"For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God."  Romans 3:23

Second: Sin has a price which must be paid. If we pay what we owe as sinners, we must spend an eternity in the lake of fire (Hell).

"For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life, through Jesus Christ our Lord."  Romans 6:23

Third: You cannot save yourself.

"Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy he saved us."   Titus 3:5

Fourth: Realize that Jesus died to pay your sin debt. Christ was not a sinner, and the Bible teaches that God took all of our sin and placed it on Christ. While Christ was bearing all of our sins in his own body, God punished Him in our place to pay the debt that we owe.

"For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us God."  I Peter 3:18

Fifth: You must accept by faith what Jesus Christ did for you.

"He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him."  John 3:36

"Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life."  John 5:24

If you will trust Jesus Christ as your Savior, pray a simple prayer. Prayer is simply talking to God. Tell Him that you know you are a sinner and that you deserve to pay your own sin debt. Acknowledge that Jesus died for you to pay the debt you owe, Today, as best as you know how, you will trust Him as your Savior. You will depend on Him from this moment on for your salvation. Ask God to help you live for Him and be a good Christian.
